Questions for the Answer Lady

Does the answer lady expect the Council person in the University district to patrol the streets of said district with a MACHINE gun to stop crime?

Do council members in other districts patrol their streets with the cops?

Is it part of their job to patrol their district streets and most importantly would it make a difference?
We have a new police chief in the University District.  Her name is Kim Beaty and she has been in law enforcement for 25 years.

Was the answer lady at the new chief's introductory meeting to speak about the problems in the district?  Council person Russell had a representative there and she had already spoken to the new chief.  Many community leaders were there.

Where was the answer lady?  Is she going to give the new chief a chance or is she complaining just to be complaining?  Has the answer lady come up with any sort of solution, answer, or idea about the problem of crime or is she just exercising her fingers typing another useless blog?  The next meeting with Chief Beaty  is going to be Dec 21 at 11:00 am.

Will the answer lady be there or will she just be exercising her fingers again

The question lady has questions for Ms. Rochelle Ricchiazzi

1 Why did she miss the forum that the other 2 candidates for the University Heights attended  at the Arts gallery on Elmwood. Can't she defend her agenda?

2 Where are her signs for  the election?

3 Why is it that the only personal info that I found out about her came from the Buffalo News?

4 Who knows her or has even heard of  her until she announced her candidacy August 31st
less than 2 weeks before the primary  nothing like leaving something to the last minute.

5 What are her affiliations? What groups are supporting her and what groups is she supporting?

6 Why does she only speak through her brother's e mail account?

7 How is she going to tackle the problems of her constituents and keep up her classes at Niagara University?

8 Most importantly can she meet me for a drink at a bar?  Oops  I guess not  she is only 19 years old.

2011 BRING BACK THE PRIDE
2011 BRING BACK THE PRIDE geared towards returning the “Pride” back into our community. This event will highlight the block clubs, community organizations and services that are available to help people during these dark economic times.  Often, many sit around and talk about the negatives in our community. This event will highlight the positives in our community.
DATE:       July 30, 2011
                                      TIME:        1pm – 6pm
PLACE:     UB’s Rotary Field located
(Located on UB’s South Campus

Bailey Ave. near Winspear Ave.)

Please come out and join us to highlight the positive activities that are happening in our neighborhood. Let us take this opportunity to change the perception of a Block Club of being a sounding board for complaints about their neighbors.  We can use this excellent opportunity to highlight the many positives reasons why it is important to be involved in a Block Club.
There is also a small registration fee of $50.00 to reserve a table. Councilwoman Russell has agreed to contribute “half” the registration fee for University District Block Clubs that are registered through the City of Buffalo Board of Block Clubs.

What has Bonnie Russell done for the University District?

While Bonnie Russell has served as University District Councilperson,  a number of exciting million dollar projects has been brought into the University District, including the building of a new fire house on Bailey and Hewitt, the million dollar business project of Fastrac, located on  Bailey & Langfield; and Budwey’s (a full service grocery store) located on Kenmore Avenue.  Thousands of dollars have been invested in improving facades on many businesses and restaurants; while new ones were welcomed.  And, while the City of Buffalo lost population, the University District gained in population as reflected in the 2010 census.

The University District is also bright as it prepares for the Buffalo Promise Neighborhoods, a President Obama initiative spearheaded by Dr. Yvonne Minor-Reagan, along with several community partners that will bring millions of dollars into the Kensington-Bailey area, down Winspear to Hertel Avenue.  Ground will soon be broken on a new million dollar condominium housing development on Main Street near Hertel.  There are some of the best schools,  sought by parents to educate their children, including a new Olmstead High School (formerly Kensington High School) near completion as part of the Joint School Construction project.

Public Safety for University District residents is paramount.  With the help of  the block clubs, and other organizations, vigilance will continue with the police and the district attorneys office to maximize protection for the community and afford justice for those victimized.

Bonnie deserves credit for the successes accomplished to date, and in the future, by working with the residents and organizations of the University District.

As you travel down Minnesota Avenue, take a moment to notice the award winning beautification project, consisting of beautiful plants and exotic flowers spearheaded by their block club.  She was instrumental in helping the Heath Street Block Club obtain funding to revitalize the green space which is located at the corners of Heath and Mildred Streets.

She has played an important part in bringing condos and a brand new day care center to the University District also.  St. Joseph University School celebrated the dedication of new front doors in June 2011.  University District Council member Bonnie Russell funded the project, which officials say was necessary to keep in the heat and make the school safer for students.  She is sponsoring a petition to the Common Council to have the area of Heath and Main Streets, designated as a school zone for the protection of the school children at both St. Joseph's and the Gloria Parks Community Center.

Why is Pamela Cahill running for University District Councilperson?

Pamela was a member of the Buffalo School Board, but the public started putting pressure on the School Board, she couldn't handle the heat, quit the School Board without finishing her term, quit on the children, and then blamed her colleagues on the Board for being irresponsible as if she had nothing to do with the decisions the Board made the past five years she served on it.  She represented the Ferry District, which has no public schools in it that fall in the University District.  The majority of our public schools are located in the East District.  Bennett High School is not in our district either.

The Race is on in the University District

Question:  why is it that Aaron Jackson who has a Thatcher Avenue address, does not realize that his district is now the Masten District and not the University District?  He refuses to accept the fact that he was redistricted when the new Council lines were drawn.  Thatcher Avenue was formally in the University District; it is now in the Masten District.  This has been his home for years. If it's a Thatcher Avenue address, he will automatically be disqualified.

His claim to fame was when he showed up to a meeting held by members of the black community who "called out" Margaret Sullivan from the Buffalo News for releasing criminal information on some of the individuals who were killed in the City Grill shooting downtown.  He was very vocal at the meeting and has since declared himself a community activity.
